Every hour someone in Ireland suffers from a stroke. Every day, hundreds of Irish people are diagnosed with heart disease. The lives of these people are often cut tragically short. Many are left disabled. Up to 10,000 die each year, which makes heart disease and stroke the nation’s biggest killer.

Parkinsons Ireland


The Parkinson's Association of Ireland is a charity, based in Dublin with branches throughout the country. Our aim is to assist people with Parkinson's, their families and carers, health professionals and other interested people by offering support, a listening ear and information on any aspect of living with Parkinson's. We currently receive no funding from the Irish state.

PSPA Ireland


PSPA Ireland was setup in 2012 and is dedicated to helping people with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD), both degenerative brain diseases with causes unknown and for which there are currently no cures.

Special Olympics Ireland


Special Olympics Ireland is a sports organisation for people with an intellectual disability, but we provide athletes with far more than the physical benefits of sport. Special Olympics changes lives. Special Olympics Ireland enables our athletes to achieve and win not only in sport but in life too.  Currently nearly 8,000 athletes take part in year-round training in our network of 313 community-based clubs and services throughout the island of Ireland. Rehab Enterprises provides a supported workplace for people with disabilities and to work to remove barriers which people might face. Cork Stroke Support Group 


The Cork Stroke support group monthly meetings take on the last Wednesday of the month in the Activities Centre, St. Finbarr's Hospital.

The Mercer's Institute for Research on Ageing


The Mercer’s Institute for Research on Ageing represents the research function of the Medicine for the Elderly Department in St. James’s Hospital.  The Institute has an extensive commitment to research in age related diseases in areas such as memory, genetic, metabolic and endocrine and neuroimaging and provides clinical services through its memory clinic function. Beechfield Healthcare kindly donated a range of Primary care products to the MISA Suite.



LauraLynn is a hospice for children with life-limiting conditions and residential care for young adults with disabilities.  They provide palliative care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.  The holistic approach to care enables then to support the whole family, allowing parents to be ‘Mum and Dad’ rather than full-time carers.

Arthritis Ireland


Arthritis is a condition that affects almost one million people in Ireland. It is the single biggest cause of disability in this country and has a hugely negative impact on people’s lives by taking away their ability to do basic, everyday things. As a charity organisation dedicated to working with people with arthritis, it’s their mission to make just as big a positive impact on the lives of those with the condition.

Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) 


The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association is dedicated to working on behalf of people living with MND and their families and carers. Their key services include home visiting by an MND nurse, financial assistance towards home care help and the supply of specialised equipment on loan.

Enable Ireland


Enable Ireland provides services to children and adults with disabilities and their families from 40 locations in 14 counties. Covering childhood to adulthood the expert teams work with the individual and their family on a plan for each life stage.

Daughters of Charity 


The Daughters of Charity contribute to the provision of Child and Family Services, Pre-Schools, Education, Specialised Services for Young People, Services for People with Intellectual Disability, Health Care Services, Services for Older People, Services in Parishes, Family Resource Centres and much more.

Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI)


Spina Bifida Ireland aim to foster an environment in which every person affected by Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus can lead a fulfilled life. They provide essential information, support and advice to everyone living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus.

Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA)


Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) is a national organisation which provides a range of services to people with disabilities and other mobility impairments in their own homes and communities.

Cheeverstown House

Cheeverstown House, based in Dublin, is a voluntary organisation, accredited by the Council on Quality & Leadership providing a wide range of residential, respite and day services to almost 400 children and adults with an intellectual disability and to their families in Cheeverstown Centre and throughout various community locations.

Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin

Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin is Ireland's largest paediatric hospital. It has been caring for Ireland's youth since 1956. It has almost 1200 staff and 243 beds all dedicated to the care of children.

Cheshire Ireland

Cheshire Ireland provides a range of support services to people with both physical and neurological conditions in their homes, in residential centres, in supported accommodation and in stand-alone respite facilities. We provide our services to people often with very complex and high support needs.

Cope Foundation

The aim of the Cope Foundation is to enhance the lives of people with an intellectual disability and/or autism; working in partnership with them, their families and local communities, to provide a range of person centred services and supports.

Brothers of Charity

The Brothers of Charity Services in Ireland provide a variety of services and supports to approximately 6,500 people with an intellectual disability or autism, and their families, throughout Counties Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Limerick, Roscommon, Tipperary, and Waterford.

The Post Polio Support Group (PPSG)

The Post-Polio Support Group (PPSG) is a charitable organisation set up by Polio Survivors to assist their fellow survivors.

Central Remedial Clinic

The CRC is one of the largest organisations in Ireland dedicated to the achievements, wellbeing and health of people with physical disabilities.  Their key aims are to help people with disabilities take responsibility for and have control over their own lives and set and achieve their own goals.

Ability West

Ability West provides services and supports to over 520 individuals with intellectual disability throughout Galway City and County.   They aim to provide quality supports and services to children and adults which promotes their overall autonomy, health and wellbeing and enables them to reach their potential.

Co Action

Co Action has developed comprehensive services for both children and adults with an intellectual disability and autism in the West Cork area and now provides services for 598 children and 140 adults.
