Our History

Beechfield Healthcare Ltd. was officially incorporated in 1996 as the equipment division of Manor Care International, a nursing home group.

The nursing homes within the group often found it challenging to source and procure quality products for their premises.  Identifying that other nursing homes had similar products sourcing challenges, Beechfield Healthcare was born as a separate trading entity within the group.

The company originally traded from a premises in the Dublin suburb of Deansgrange and quickly expanded its product range and customer base beyond nursing homes.  Before long Beechfield Healthcare gained a reputation for sourcing quality innovative products, providing a broad range of mobility, manual handling and rehabilitation equipment to the Regional Health Boards (now the HSE) nationwide.

In 2008 the company was acquired by Trevor Flanagan in a management buy-out.  Trevor had worked for Beechfield since 2002 as a product specialist, developing business across the country.  Soon after the acquisition Trevor relocated the company to his hometown of Portlaoise which provided access to the national motorway network.  This dawned a new era for Beechfield.

Soon after Trevor took control of the company, Beechfield partnered with Drive Medical to supply a small range of bathroom equipment. The latter end of 2008 saw the Irish economy enter what has now become known as ‘The Great Recession’.  Mass unemployment ensued and government health budgets were slashed.  During this period Beechfield Healthcare underwent enormous change and reinvention.

2010 saw the acquisition of Hygiene Plus Solutions Ltd., a leading provider of decontamination and healthcare equipment refurbishment extending the organisations range of services.

In 2011 Beechfield Healthcare acquired distribution rights for Excel wheelchairs from VanOs Medical. This partnership has flourished and Beechfield is now the largest provider of manual wheelchairs in the Republic of Ireland, servicing several HSE Contracts.

Beechfield Healthcare won a place on the governments ‘Framework Agreement for the Supply of Aids and Appliances’ in 2011.  Enabling Beechfield to supply regional and national HSE contracts.

In 2012 Beechfield became national distribution partner for Drive Medical for the island of Ireland.  This partnership has grown from strength-to-strength over the years as Beechfield continue to increase market share in a variety of healthcare equipment categories with Drive products.

Beechfield entered the stairlift marketing in 2015 partnering with Europe’s leading stairlift manufacturer Handicare.  This category of business has rapidly grown to have a nationwide implementation team and customer base.

In 2016 James Gargan joined the Beechfield board taking up the position of Commercial Director.  James, previously an owner of full-service digital agency Continuum Technologies Ltd., joined Beechfield after spending over 20 years in the IT industry.

In 2019, Beechfield Healthcare launched beechfieldsleep.ie and entered the Sleep Apnoea market partnering with Devilbiss to supply CPAP machines.

Beechfield continue to represent internationally recognised healthcare brands in Ireland including Thera Trainer, Savvi, Kinestica, Sidhill, Select Healthcare, Smithcare, Ato Form, AgeUK, N&C Phlexicare, Nymas, Plinth2000 and Chiltern Invadex.
